You will often hear that trust is essential to democracy, and that any revolutionary thought or idea erodes that public faith in longheld institutions worthy of respect.

But in reality, the Government relies far more on your paranoia than your trust. It convinces you it can kill you with impunity, convinces you that you are a cog in its machine rather than the provider of its position. It relies far more on disparaging you than embracing your trust. Which is, by an irony that should not be lost on people, the reason it declares all inspection of its faculties as eroding a public trust that has never really existed.

In reality, the revolutionaries of thought are a byproduct of a system that fails to engage with the Public and earn their trust in the first place. It is the Government itself that fails to uphold its central purpose as it becomes an increasingly complex and ineffective means of control over time. The natural response to this is to question its validity, and the natural response of an entity self aware of its flaws is to recoil from that questioning.

It has nothing to do with eroding longheld institutions of Justice and noble goals.
Those never existed.
In fact, it is the constant struggle of the serf population all along that has truly shaped society after society. The argument of the Vox Populi set against the marxist version of the bourgeoisie ruling class.
The struggle that defines you is against both the status of your imprisonment in an architecture into which you were born, and the words that reinforce preconceptions that keep you there.
