Also, many people use the beam of the flashlight to light a room... A better practice is to point the light to the ceiling and let the dispersed light illuminate the room.

Yes, we discovered that during the coal miner strikes in the 70s... power would just go out randomly, and we ended up cooking over our fire, and having flashlights pointed at the ceilings to play cards by 😁
