Yes. Academia is a huge part of the problem. I know a lot of these people. They are nice people in their way but their egos are so large and so in control of their perceptions that they will be the last to wake (if they can at all).
The thought that a blue collar, rural, 'deplorable' could be correct instead of their 'higher intelligence and status' is so impossible for them to see, so anathema to admit; that they will not 'get it' until the stazi jack boot is on their necks.
"You cannot learn anything if you think you know everything."
We cannot wait for educated liberals to see it. They will take too long. They will have to catch up after, once events are written down in a 'peer reviewed journal' so they will believe it.

Studied in the University, but didn't really stay for much longer than needed. It really will be the university folks who will get it last. It will also be the psychologically hardest for them and some will not be able to comprehend it.
