🐓 For Chicken Owners! 🥚
This is chickweed 🌿 AKA Birdweed, Craches or Chickenwort. Scientific Name: "Stellaria Media" The flower is white and has 5 petals, which are parted to look like 10 petals. It gets its name due to the fact that chickens LOVE to eat it. Some gardeners consider it one of those nuisance weeds, however most parts of this plant can be consumed raw or cooked and used similar to spinach in small quantities. Chickweed has a strong reproductive capacity with each plant producing 2-3 generations of seeds annually, 15k seeds for each generation, remaining active for 60 years. With favorable conditions, all the seeds can germinate throughout the year. So this can potentially be a cheap or even free natural feed for chickens!
