henry kissinger also played a big part in what happened to richard nixon. huge mistake on nixon's part. nixon, like trump, never went to any of the parties or did anything with the politicians or elites or lobbyists, partly because he'd always been a loner. had a contentious relationship with the media. pretty neat little factoid that ties into a question Q asked once which was "when do you call in the plummers?" (when you have a leak). nixon had a group of handpicked men that would do covert investigations to find out where things had been leaked from that nobody should have had knowledge of. these men were referred to as the "plumbers."
