First he makes a command about the content of our speech—it must be truthful. Second, he makes a command about the method of our speech—it must be loving. Everything we say needs to be both wise and loving. Our speech is to be full of gracious candor
Now of course there is Ephesians 4:15 to consider and apply: Speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ.

In Hebrews 4:15, the writer tells us, “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are — yet he did not sin.”

You can't heal a pain you're not ready to feel, but we must also be aware that there are those who do not want to heal, as if they heal from what hurts them, they'll have nothing else to hold on or to use as a "pity play".

Hence why sometimes the generational trauma of avoidance gets past down from generation to generation due to being normalised within families or within groups.

The DCF caseworkers who came to our hotel room banged on the front door, demanding entry. They scrutinized every inch of the room and questioned my siblings and me, looking for any sign of child neglect. One visit gave rise to countless unannounced visits over the years as school staff reported our family to social services for the same reason: homelessness. Because of that state policy, DCF came to investigate, not to help, searching for any reason to separate my siblings from one another instead of trying to keep my family together.

I do have deep care, respect and immense love for him. He heard the call, he left his comfortable life to help us become who we have needed to be. Strength, patience, mercy, peace and Constitutional Might rise up or be damned...he modeled that to us. We felt activated, though groggy when we rose from our slumber, he bought us time to come to. He gathered and prepared an entire family to receive us, hold our hand while getting us up to speed. He has motivated us while entertaining us too. True he has a team with him...but his shoulders are the biggest and the best. I thank God everyday for moving in that mans life and heart. For everything he has done,
