The Swedish government’s offer of Saab’s A26 submarines to Poland has been selected by the Polish government to replace the current Kilo-class submarine. Naval News recently visited Saab Kockums' shipyard in Karlskrona, where two A26 submarines are currently in production for the Swedish Navy, to learn more.

Maxwell Litton, head of sales and business development at Saab Kockums, said:

"Sweden, and Saab are proud. Very, very happy that that Poland decided to pick the the Swedish offer, which included 826 as the submarine for the the Polish Navy. We understand that decision because we believe that our submarine is uniquely tailored to fit the needs of the Polish Navy and look forward to delivering our platforms now"

(Another) U.S. Shipbuilding Disaster - The Constellation Class & U.S. Fleet Modernization
There's a lot that goes into having a capable navy - but being able to design and build quality warships usually helps.

Since the end of the Cold War the U.S. has been able to design and introduce a range of new designs including a new supercarrier and the Virginia class submarine.

But attempts to build new surface combatants have struggled. Zumwalt, LCS...and now the Constellation class Frigate.

Now announced as cancelled, Constellation (FFG-62) was meant to be a safer option, based on a proven parent design and critical to future US shipbuilding plans.

So today, we ask why the U.S. turned to a Frigate program, how it fit into the struggle to modernize the post cold war fleet, and what the end of the program might mean for the USN.

Leopard 2A8 Reveal: KNDS Shows Off New Main Battle Tank.
Well, it’s finally happened. The Leopard 2A8 made its public debut on November 19th in front of government officials and members of the defence community. Its maker, KNDS, rolled out the new main battle tank and showed off an upgraded PzH 2000 howitzer for the Bundeswehr at the same time. Two of these new Leopard 2s were on display: One for the Norwegian Armed Forces and the other for Germany’s Bundeswehr.

We start out today by looking at the artificial island that was host to a San Francisco fair. Next we go to Petra and it was then I realized my computer was going to have issues. It may be due to low voltage on my solar system batteries due to cloudy days. So I get kicked out of Petra and put into google space mode. I then use this opportunity to discuss my thoughts on space. Finally, in the last segment, we look at the remains of a heavily destroyed ancient city called Timgad.
