This was Based on a Poem that was Published in the Early 60's, during the Chaos of the Civil Rights Movement. I Lived and Grew Up in a Small Town of 1,200 People in Northern Iowa. The only African American People we saw were on TV or the News Media and my Mother thought it was Wise to Teach Me to Love and Respect Everyone--no matter what their Race, Color or Creed. (Everyone is Created in the Image and Likeness of God and We are All Diverse Aspects of One Universal Spirit that was the Source of our Being.
She Read this to Me when I was Three Years Old and it had a Profound Effect on Me and the Way in which I Learned to View the World Outside My Own Small Town.
I Remembered the Poem throughout my life and often wondered what became of it. Then, After She Passed in 1997, We were Looking through her Belongings and Found the Article, Carefully Folded in Her Purse. She had Carried it with Her for 30 + Years.
