Here a few years ago after a mass school shooting (I don't remember which one), the subject came up at our school board meeting about arming certain teachers/office staff with guns. Our Principal and School Manager both stood their ground: "The day that we have to arm teachers is the day we both retire and never walk into a school again. School isn't a place for guns."
About a month later, a couple of criminals robbed a convenience store right across the street from our school, shooting one of the cashiers. There were police cars and helicopters swarming the area and the school was locked down.
The Principal and School Manager both disappeared, stating the next day, they both had "Home Emergencies" and had to leave, but they left the school in good hands and no one should have panicked.
Nothing they could have done had they stayed because the kids didn't like either one of them anyway, but they both had home emergencies at the exact same time???? Yeah!!!!

Well, whatever respect we may have had for either of them (I had none to start with), just vanished. This same store has been robbed many times because of the location being right next to an interstate which makes an easy get away for a criminal. That fact too, was brought up at a board meeting. Still you have board members/principals/admins that don't like guns and see no reason for ANYONE to ever carry one regardless of the fact that guns can save lives as well as take lives. They look at it like the "gun" killed the employee and the "gun" robbed the store. They don't think in terms of guns can save lives too. If any school needed armed security or retired military to protect students and staff, it's THAT school. Anyway, people are letting their own personal fear and emotions lead them instead of thinking "how best can we protect our students?".
