A combination of bentonite clay and DE is optimal, as the DE cuts apart and kills the parasites and the clay assists in removing the toxins created by not only the parasite, but by the dead parasite as they decay going through the gut.
There used to be a red DE available called Red Lake but they only use it in stall dry products now. The CLAIM was the mine had too much lead for animal consumption, however the stall dry products are labeled for being safe to eat because an animal eats hay or treats etc. off the floor so it must be. that Red Lake DE was AMAZING. The chickens loved it, goats, pigs, cows and even the house pets. If i Mix the white DE i to the dog or cat food it often sits around for a day and a half until they are REALLY hungry.

i buy mine from the local agro store. its Co-op here in Saskatchewan. it comes in massive bags for the same price as 500g most times! its the SAME stuff. ive used it myself, but im not a doctor, do what you feel is best.
