My mom, with her mother and uncle, came to New York from a small town in Germany when she was 8 years old (1951). This morning mom again shared with me that she had never heard of this day called Good Friday until arriving in the US. In Germany it was called Karfreitag and can be translated as Mourning Friday. She said it was a silent Friday when even dancing was prohibited by parents. Above all, today is a day of hope and the ultimate reminder of just how much God loves us. Be encouraged by His sacrifice for us and keep the Lord in your hearts.
