I really shouldn't be shocked anymore by finding out how the US has been meddling in the world, but I am. I had no idea about this coup that was executed in Australia in 1975. We were always told they only acted in other countries when brutal dictators were hurting the people. We stupidly believed them, because we never considered they would lie. We wouldn't.

Story may have slant, I don't know the political details, but lots of sources agree with the basics of what happened and that the CIA and MI6 were the drivers behind ousting the duly elected Australian PM.
