After 1500 years underground, one of the largest, richest and most beautiful gold treasures in Danish history has been discovered near Jelling in Denmark. The huge find of nearly a kilogram of gold, consisting of giant saucer-sized medallions, is believed to date back to the 6th century (i.e. before the Viking Age) and is scheduled to be presented to the public in 2022.
