The original is no doubt still in the can ... once digitized they have edited for TV, making it fit their time slot and esp anything that is as horrific as a man hanging himself.
The story was very telling as was Alice in wonderland ... difficult to wake up the people once they have been conditioned. Like debriefing a cult member - they are in such denial.
