Fake replicas of these pieces are made so the real ones kept cannot be distinguished from the fakes.

Underworld hybrid line of Cain cannibals may have this done to preserve their bodies, though this looks nothing like the less human looking humanoid hybrids some have seen on the surface.

I'm pretty sure this kind of stuff, when any form of it is real & not a replica, does sometimes get taken from those who have it for good & bad reasons both.
