I think @VincentKennedy is building a metaphor to explain what "time" really is, who we really are, and how it's possible to change the "past" in order to reach a guaranteed positive outcome.

One way mirrors, a single source of light that appears infinite via separate reflections... pretty awesome teaching tool. :)
