We had dress codes. We pushed boundaries. We learned to sew.✂️

I went to public schools we had dress code boys wear pants girls wear dresses or skirts, no uniforms. If they did require a uniform they would be SOL parents didn't have the money. But we did learn about reading, arithmetic, history, english, spelling all the stuff now for some reason don't teach in schools today.

We sent our children to private schools and we absolutely loved school uniforms!!!

I enjoyed the simplicity of it. The only way that division showed up at school was when the rich children's parents bought fancy embroidered blouses. As a child this did not bother me. I heard adults talking abou it.
The houses did not require so much closet space either.

LOL exact plaid print I wore for for many years. No tie but neck scarf. (in error 😱 posted my uniform was w/ tie on twitter NO !!)

I grew up wearing uniforms to my school. Loved it.
