Great point! well, like the guy said, read your Bible. I go back to the earliest version written in English with the assumption that it most likely has less mistranslation. The two I refer to mostly are the Wycliffe version, and the 1599 Geneva Bible. You can read them on biblegateway.com and even contrast and compare them with each other, or the KJV, or many other and more recent versions. That in itself is a real eye-opener.
what i WISH i could do is find the Tynsdale Bible. William Tynsdale was an Englishman who translated the Bible into English somewhere in the 13 or 1400s and the ruling Roman Catholics first strangled him and then burnt him at the stake with his Bible around his neck, leading me to believe they REALLY wanted to discourage 1)the Bible's translation into English and 2) this truth Tynsdale transcribed from getting out. I betcha that version, if it can be found, is more precious than all the gold in the world.
