Today, we honored hundreds of U.S. Capitol Police, Metropolitan Police, and additional law enforcement officers with the Congressional Gold Medal — the highest honor bestowed by Congress — for their heroism in defense of our democracy on January 6.

If not for their bravery, those of us in the House gallery very likely may have lost our lives.

The sacrifices of our officers will never be forgotten.
