The reason the Americans are not (yet) going onto the streets is the last time they had serious problems was during the revolution, back then it was resist or succumb (precipice)...
Even though they engaged many wars, it was never at home, so the Americans didn't feel it... The Europeans felt WWII, but that is 4 generations behind us and most people have no idea what fascism is, so they don't recognize it until the fascist boot is on their neck, therefor very small protests...
When this is all over, dictionaries are gong to be like this:
