BREAKING: Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico has been shot while greeting a crowd in the town of Handlova.

According to the BBC, a witness heard three or four shots and saw Fico fall to the ground with apparent wounds to his chest and head.

He was rushed to the hospital where he is reportedly being treated.

Fico is a populist who halted military aid to Ukraine in January and recently pushed through plans to abolish public broadcaster RTVS.
