Need some help to understand blueprint takeoff properly
I am learning about blueprint takeoff these days but still not clear how it really work in real projects. Some people say it is about measuring quantities from plans, others tell it’s more about software tools doing the calculation.

Can anyone explain in simple way how blueprint takeoff is done and what skills are needed for that? Also, is it something only estimators do or site engineers also handle it sometimes?
